Cobb Mother Accused of Killing Children in California

The woman's ex husband had been granted full custody of the two children three days before they were killed in 2013.

A former Cobb County resident is on trial in California for allegedly killing her two children days after full custody was awarded to her ex-husband, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Testimony in the trial claims that Marilyn Edge poisoned, suffocated, and drowned her 13-year-old son Jaelen and her 10-year-old daughter Faith inside a motel in Santa Anita, CA in September of 2013.

An Orange County grand jury heard testimony that Edge, who moved from Cobb to Arizona after her ex-husband got visitation rights in 2012, drove the children to her new home before taking them to the California coast just three days after a Cobb County judge had ordered her to give the children to her ex full-time.

Following a day at Huntington Beach and a dinner, Edge allegedly gave the children doses of sleeping pills and then drowned Jaelen in the bathtub of the motel using a pillow. She then allegedly took the pillow into the main room and smothered Faith.

Edge allegedly tried to kill herself by driving into an electrical box and attempting to strangle herself with a belt while still in the vehicle.
