Death and Fire Under Investigation in Smyrna Area: Police

SMYRNA, GA — Police and fire officials are investigating a house fire and death Saturday at 4368 Laurel Circle in the Smyrna area.

At 7:25 a.m. Sunday, first responders were called to the home regarding a fire. When they arrived, they learned a man was inside the home, according to a release from Sgt. Dana Pierce.

"Despite the efforts of first responders, after the fire was put out, the body of 72-year-old Phillip Leech was discovered inside a bedroom," Pierce said.
