Delta Community Invests $5,000 in Young Students

Organizations that help kids in Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, as well as the city of Atlanta, were the recipients.

Two organizations that help children in Cobb and other metro Atlanta counties are the most recent recipients of grants from the Delta Community Credit Union Philanthropic Fund.

Delta Community’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Shepherd, recently presented a $2,500 check to Hands on Atlanta to support its Discovery program, which assists more than 800 children at Title 1 elementary schools in Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb counties and the city of Atlanta.

Shepherd presented a second check, also for $2,500, to Girls on The Run (GOTR) of Atlanta, which empowers girls to be both physically and emotionally healthy. GOTR serves girls from elementary and middle schools Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.

“We’re excited to invest in the health, education and well-being of young people,” said Shepherd. “These worthwhile programs benefit individual students, families and the communities we are privileged to serve.”
