Early and Accurate Diagnosis Can Bring Big Benefits
Key to Managing Mild Cognitive Impairment

There are medical benefits to being diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer's early in the disease process. Individuals can begin health measures to preserve their existing cognitive function for as long as possible. For example, prevention of stroke and minimization of vascular risk factors through the control of blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking cessation may reduce the risk of progression from MCI to dementia. An early diagnosis of Alzheimer's also maximizes the chances of participation in a clinicaltrial, which may also provide medical benefits.
This why the Alzheimer's Association is requesting $350,000 be added to the Department of Public Health FY2020 Budget to fund a State Wide Awareness Campaign to include the symptoms of the disease and the benefits of an early and accurate diagnosis.
I encourage you to #Ask4Alz your Georgia Representatives to support this critical funding. I am asking @Jen Jordan and @State Rep Michael Smith to support as well. I am confident that this Campaign can help many of our fellow citizens have a better quality of life. #ENDALZ.
