According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the tree came tumbling down across South Cobb Drive near Cobb Parkway before 5 a.m. Wednesday, crushing three cars as it fell. A Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman told the AJC that one driver needed help getting out of his crushed car, but nobody was injured.

Workers were still cleaning away the tree and the damage at noon Wednesday, WSB-TV reported. The station suggested motorists use Windy Hill Road or 120 as alternate routes while South Cobb Drive remains closed. Fire officials told WSB-TV that they hope to have the road re-opened by 2:30 p.m.
