Fire Spreads In Smyrna Apartment, 2 Injured
An early morning fire at a Smyrna apartment left two injured before firefighters put it out.
SMYRNA, GA — Two people were injured Friday morning after a fire broke out at The Alcove apartments on Woodlands Drive, reported 11Alive. One person was injured from jumping to safety from a second-story balcony.
According to the Smyrna Fire Department it was "very fortunate" both people weren’t seriously injured.
Duty Battalion Chief Kenneth Durden told 11Alive that one person acquired superficial burns from escaping the apartment fire, and the other had “light injuries” from the jump.

Durden said the fire affected as many as 10 units. It started in one apartment, which was the only unit that’s considered a total loss. The American Red Cross is helping residents find temporary lodging if they need it.
According to Durden, the fire spread from a breezeway that led to the apartments, which convinced the one individual to jump from the second floor.
