2. Sanitation Crew Worker: Workers will work under the observation of the sanitation supervisor and perform unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor such as picking up trash, driving sanitation vehicles, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
Candidates for this position must have a high school diploma or GED and five months of related work experience. Candidates must also possess a current and valid Georgia driver's license and pass background checks and drug screenings.
Salary: $23,689 per year

3. Certified Firefighter: Assigned to one of three shifts, Smyrna's fire fighters are responsible for the protection of life and property and for providing emergency medical services to residents of the city.
Candidates for the position must possess National Registry Paramedic Certification or Georgia Paramedic Certification OR NPQS Firefighter I Certification and EMT-Intermediate certification. Applicants must also be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, have a current, valid driver's license, and pass background checks. Minority, female, and bilingual persons are encouraged to apply.

4. 911 Communications Officer: Officers serve as the communications operators for the city's emergency 911 systems. Operators manage and respond to all police, fire, and emergency medical calls as well as dispatching personnel to needed locales.
Candidates for the position must have a high school diploma or GED with five months of experience in public safety communications. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens, have a valid driver's license, and complete certain certifications within twelve months of hiring.
Salary: $32,067 per year

5. Traffic Signal Technician: Under the direction of the City Manager, the technician maintains and repairs city traffic signals, designs traffic lanes, conducts traffic signal pole transfers, and responds to any traffic signal related emergencies in the city.
Candidates must have a vocational or technical degree with emphasis in electronics and a year of training or experience in traffic signal maintenance and repair. Candidates must also have certifications in Work Zone and Flagging, I.M.S.A. Signal I & II, I.M.S.A. Signs and Markings I & II, and certificates of training in 2070, Eagle, and Transyt systems. Candidates must have a valid driver's license with the proper endorsements, pass a background check, and pass a drug test.
Salary: $34,860 - $41,832
