The Campbell Spartans will have Homecoming and their first home regional game on Friday evening, hoping to avenge last Friday's 28-26 loss to Harrison with a win against the South Cobb Eagles.

The Spartans are 2-1 on the young season, with previous victories against Morrow and Osborne, both non-regional opponents.

Last week's contest against the Hoyas, which included a potentially game-winning touchdown called back on a holding penalty, was not as close as the score would suggest. However, the Spartans hung tough despite the lack of a ground game.

Spartan coach Harris Rainbow told the Marietta Daily Journal that the loss to region rivals Harrison was "very difficult," but he saw enough positives in the game that made him confident that his team could defeat the Eagles on Friday.

For their part, the Eagles are coming off their first win of the season, a 34-28 triumph against Kennesaw Mountain. The Eagles came from behind to earn their first tally in the win column.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Richard McDaniel Stadium. Smyrna-Vinings Patch will update this article with the score at the end of each quarter.
