Local potter seeks to inspire and launch artists’ district in Smyrna
Glazy Dazy owner is attempting to raise funds for innovative space to be called 'Earth + Friend + Fire.'
Artiste and potter extraordinaire Shea Wootan is the owner of uber-awesome paint your own pottery spot , located at 999 Concord Rd. And since being a business owner and mom isn’t quite enough to keep the energetic Wootan busy, she’s looking to launch another Smyrna operation and needs community support to follow through.
“I can’t count how many times I received a phone call or email, or a customer walks into Glazy Dazy and wants to know if they can actually make something out of clay," said Wootan. “Our little leased cottage is slated for demolition in 2012, so it seemed an auspicious occasion to try to spread our wings. So, I dreamed up a studio that's a collaboration of the coolest places I have had the pleasure of hanging out at and hope to provide an artful environment for adults seeking a bit of creative therapy”.
She plans to call the innovative space Earth + Friend + Fire.

In order for Wootan and company to make their pottery dreams come true, they need to raise funds to renovate a warehouse in the heart of Smyrna. Her ultimate long-tern goal is that her studio warehouse could help inspire and launch an artists’ district “which will evolve and enrich our community.”

“The plumbing, power, and equipment needed to make this a successful venture is what we will be using the funds for,” said Shea.
