Habersham Funding adds Vinings resident as key team member

Spencer Freeman joins Georgia-based life insurance and financial firm as Corporate Counsel

Habersham Funding, LLC, announces the addition of Vinings resident Spencer Freeman, J.D., who joins the firm as Corporate Counsel.

Habersham Funding, an Atlanta-based firm that does business nationally, provides the funds for life settlements and viatical settlements, which enable seriously ill people and seniors who no longer want or need their life insurance to receive an advance cash payment for their policy.

“Spencer has a unique combination of experience that at the same time brings both an understanding of our industry as well as a fresh perspective on it,” says M. Bryan Freeman, founder and president of Habersham. “He will continue to help guide us through the increasingly regulated business of the secondary market for life insurance.”

A graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, Spencer Freeman previously practiced with a local law firm. While in law school he served as a class representative and student chair of the school’s curriculum committee, and spent a summer interning as a Trademark Clerk for The Coca-Cola Company.

“The living benefits contained in life insurance policies and, in particular, life settlement transactions, are very powerful tools,” Freeman says, “but they are not in fact very well known or understood. I look forward to helping consumers and the professionals who advise them discover when such options may be appropriate for them.”

Freeman was raised in Marietta, graduating from Wheeler High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Amanda, who also is an attorney, and their two dogs (Sherlock and Watson) reside in Vinings.

Habersham Funding can buy life policies in 48 U.S. jurisdictions (including Washington, DC), and is a leader in helping seriously ill people best leverage their benefits, including the living benefits contained in life insurance policies.
