The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Smyrna-Vinings.

Hello, friends! It's Wednesday in Smyrna-Vinings and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening in our community today. Without further ado...

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m.. High: 96 Low: 73.

Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

  1. Cobb County high schools are now dually accredited. After an evaluation earlier this year, the Georgia Accrediting Committee awarded all 17 high schools in the district with the highest ranking. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Subscription)
  2. As part of March for Our Lives demonstrations around the world, 200 Cobb County residents gathered in Marietta Square on Jun. 11. The rally is in response to the sheer number of mass shootings across the country, including the recent Uvalde school shooting. The group called for Congress to enact a ban on assault weapons as well as other common-sense gun safety laws. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. Head to North Cooper Lake this Father's Day for a special movie viewing! Make sure to register ahead of time for 'The Mitchells vs. the Machines' dusk showing. (City of Smyrna, GA Government via Facebook)
