For a defective device using electricity - That is the most misused statement probably in the world. The major cause and problem is an "open" connection or "No Connection". The wire has broken or dirty connections. Shorts cause overheating, blown fuses, burnt wiring, and maybe fires. Loose connections cause burnt contacts, hot spots, melted wires, pitted relay contacts, and fires also. In the normal everyday consumer use if your device quit, the odds are there is a bad connection somewhere between the wall socket and your device or between your device it's switch and motor etc. LOL
