J. Ashley Sawyer of Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder Named 2017 Rising Star in Family Law Fourth Year in a Row

Attorney J. Ashley Sawyer has been named a Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine's Super Lawyers for the fourth year in a row.

Family law firm Hedgepeth, Heredia & Rieder announced today that partner J. Ashley Sawyer has been recognized as a 2017 “Rising Star” in the area of Family Law. The list is compiled by Super Lawyers, a rating service of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. This is Sawyer’s fourth consecutive appearance on the Rising Star list.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. The listing appears in the March 2017 issue of Atlanta magazine.

Sawyer currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Family Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. Her list of professional accolades and accomplishments also includes:

Sawyer is a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, as well as the Family Law, Council of Younger Lawyers and Women in the Profession Sections of the Atlanta Bar Association. She is also a member of the Family Law Section and Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.

Sawyer joined HHR in 2014 and was made a partner in 2016. Prior to exclusively practicing family law in 2008, Sawyer served as the Staff Attorney to Honorable C. LaTain Kell of the Superior Court of Cobb County.

Sawyer received her JD from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 2008. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications.

A Marietta native, Sawyer now lives in Smyrna with her husband, David, a fellow Atlanta attorney.
