🌱 Juneteenth Now A Smyrna Holiday + Gaming Tourney + Windy Hill Rd.

Hello, Smyrna-Vinings. I'm here in your inbox per usual to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town. Here's the lowdown.


First, today's weather:

Sunny and hot. High: 90 Low: 66.


Here are the top three stories in Smyrna-Vinings today:

  1. The City of Smyrna has retroactively approved Juneteenth as a city holiday; city offices will be closed today (Monday, Jun. 20) in observance. In a press release, Smyrna also announced the approval of Veterans Day as an observed holiday. Details on relevant city closures and changes are available at the link. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Fancy yourself a gamer? Head over to Contender eSports on Cumberland Boulevard for the Smyrna Smash Weekly tournament. The gaming center holds Super Smash Bros tournaments each Tuesday night (including tomorrow, Jun. 21!); casual play begins at 7:00 p.m. and the competitive tourney kicks off at 8:00 p.m. (Start.gg)
  3. Lane closures in Smyrna are now in effect due to construction on the Windy Hill Boulevard project. Closures will be in place today, Jun. 20, through Friday, Jun. 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Drivers are asked to exercise caution and prepare for potential heavy delays. (Cobb County Courier)
