Meet Tuesday on Tuesday
Families are invited to meet New York Times bestselling author and his service dog at Smyrna Community Center on Tuesday, September 23.

Award-winning New York Times bestselling author, LUIS CARLOS MONTALVÁN and his service dog, TUESDAY, will appear at the Smyrna Community Center, Smyrna, GA, on Tuesday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m. Montalván’s bestselling memoir, Until Tuesday, brought issues of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury into the spotlight.
Montalván is also an advocate for service dogs and their therapeutic use for soldiers. His most recent title is a children’s book, Tuesday Tucks Me In. Through pictures and simple yet touching text, Montalván explains his relationship with Tuesday.
A 17-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Captain Montalván served multiple tours abroad and was decorated with numerous awards including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge. In 2007, Capt. Montalván honorably departed the military and in 2010 completed a master’s of science from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Luis & Tuesday frequently lecture about their work and are touring. An independent documentary in which they are co-featured, titled “Buried Above Ground,” will be released in 2014.
Montalván’s appearance at Smyrna Community Center is an event for all ages, sponsored by the Smyrna Public Library for the “Smyrna Reads” celebration. Montalván will read from his new book, demonstrate commands with Tuesday, and answer questions from the audience.
Copies of Until Tuesday and Tuesday Tucks Me In will both be available for purchase (cash or check). Book signings will follow the program. Come for a relaxed evening of fun at Smyrna Community Center, 200 Village Green Circle, Smyrna, on Tuesday, September 23, at 6:30 p.m. More information is available at smyrnareads.com.
