Kika Stretch Studios - Vinings opened last November at 1675 Cumberland Pkwy. Co-owner David Southers and his wife Virginia Lazala recently moved to the Atlanta suburb from New Jersey to embark on their entrepreneurial vision. They opened Kika, which is a national franchise started by dancer and actress Hakika DuBose.
Their five coaches, including a daughter, are trained to work with people of all ages and physical limitations. People can book their first 45-minute Kika session for free. There are no monthly membership fees and they offer flexible package options, or you can pay as you go.
On March 18, they announced that the Kika Vinings studio would temporarily be closed due to the risk of the coronavirus spreading. They emailed clients and shared the news on social media.
“This has been a difficult decision, but the health and safety of our coaches and clients continues to be our highest priority. Closing is our civic duty…”
Lazala told Patch in a previous interview that they had kept the studio open for as long as they could, even with the cancellations. She said they wanted to help people relieve stress during these "extremely stressful times."
