Finding Money for College
sponsored by College Planning Institute
and Smyrna Public Library
Today’s college tuition rates have risen 400% since the late 1990s. College tuition increases at a higher rate than inflation. Colleges increase their rates an average of 8% per year. At this pace, the cost of tuition doubles approximately every nine years.
Andrew Windham of the College Planning Institute will share some of his tips and strategies for financial planning for college. He will speak at Smyrna Public Library on Sunday, November 10, from 2-3 p.m. This workshop is free of charge.
The College Planning Institute specializes in creating an individual blueprint for the student (as early as 8th grade) addressing which colleges are a good fit for their career plus where scholarships, awards and grants can be earned. CPI works with families throughout the entire year making sure deadlines are met and scores are submitted along with financial strategies Often times, dual income families feel they may not qualify for financial aid; yet, there are many options that parents are not aware of that can increase their opportunity for free aid. The average family working with CPI has earned over $22,000 a year in scholarships and awards.
Although the workshop is free, RSVPs are appreciated. E-mail mwmoore@smyrnaga.gov.
