Parking @ Nickajack school

This parking issue at Nickajack torments parents constantly. The school board is well aware of it. The administration of the school has brought it to their attention multiple times. Parents have complained to the school board and county. Yet, they do nothing. There isn't even anything in the E-Splost.

In a growing district like Nickajack with increasing population, the schools often need to be expanded. So, at Nickajack, the school board added space by doing an extension to the building. That's good. However, it didn't think about the fact that more students means more parents will need to park for events like parent-teacher conferences, orientation, etc. Or just to drop off something their kids forgot. That's bad.

If you look at the map I've attached, there's inadequate parking for parents as you can tell from every spot being used. Yet there should be ample room for diagonal parking along some parts of Mavell Rd just South of where busses go in, and currently Mavell Rd has no parking except ad-hoc parking that parents make by parking illegally. The map doesn't show a new parking lot just North of the school, however that parking lot is used by teachers, so it isn't useful for parents. Only teachers and busses are allowed on the North side of the school. There's space just South of the school on a field on a bluff overlooking the school and Silver Comet Trail (so much as there's still ample room left for the students to do field day events). And there's other wasted space South of the school. You'll even see in the following map how people are forced to park in unmarked spots on Mavell Rd.

See the the attached map from satellite view.

Smyrna has even attempted to annex some of the land so that they could fix the issue themselves. If the extra unused land were Smyrna city land, they would solve it. If only our school board leaders were as capable as the Smyrna City council. So what's the issue? Why is this issue being ignored?

Taxpayers need to take action by holding the Cobb school board accountable. Their policy of consolidating schools is harmful enough because students get less personal attention from school staff, but their inability to think about and offer remediation the negative ramifications of larger schools is even worse. Don't vote for the current administration!
