Discussion and vote to on how eliminate Cobb's $31 million shortfall in this year's budget highlights Tuesday's news you can use.

If you didn’t know, today is National Library Day. And to celebrate, you can bet many friends of Cobb’s libraries will be at today's 9 a.m. Board of Commissioners meeting where the main topic of discussion will be how to eliminate a $31 million shortfall in this year's budget.

Patch will be there, too, providing live blog reports, photos and full coverage as the threat of the closure of 13 libraries, several senior centers, as well as possible furloughs or tax increases finally comes to a head.

Chairman Tim Lee has come under considerable fire for a proposal to cut libraries and senior centers and the like. Other commissioners have offered various opinions about closing the gap with tax increases or furloughs. How it shakes out no one quite knows but we’ll all be watching.
