Public Hearing Set For Jonquil Village Project

After an extended holiday break, it will be back to business in Smyrna-Vinings on Tuesday and folks best not forget to bring their coats. Freeze warnings should be the norm for the next couple of mornings as temperatures will dip into the teens and twenties.

On Tuesday morning, Congressman Tom Price, who represents Georgia’s 6^th District, is the scheduled speaker at the Vinings Business Association’s First Tuesday Luncheon. Price was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2004.

Also, the winner of the VBA’s 2011 Vinings Business of the Year will be announced from the five finalists: Vinings Historic Preservation Society, Paces Holding/Vinings Jubilee, First Citizens Bank-Cumberland Boulevard branch, and Cobb County Public Safety/Vinings.

SOHO restaurant was the 2009 winner the Courtyard by Marriott Vinings took home first place honors last January. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Social Vinings. The cost for members is $15 and $20 for non-members. See here for more information.

It’s also back to work for Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon and the Smyrna city council on Tuesday night. The agenda is light as the evening’s highlight should be Superior Court Judge Adele Grubbs .

The public is invited to attend the 7:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall, but you don’t have to miss a thing even if you decide not to. At the council meeting in two weeks on Jan. 17, there will be a public hearing to discuss Branch Capital Properties’ site plan and zoning condition for the once-known Jonquil Village development project.

The Smyrna Rotary Club will also hold its weekly Tuesday luncheon at the at 12:15 p.m. The Paul Harris Society recognizes Rotarians that gift at least $1,000 a year to the Annual Programs Fund of The Rotary Foundation.

These are Rotarians who choose to do more to further the good works of their Foundation. The Smyrna Golden K Kiwanis Club is conducting it’s weekly Tuesday meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. at the at 844 Church Street.

Kiwanis is a service organization dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Locally, the club consists of forty-five men and women who are making a difference in Smyrna through service. All are welcome to today’s meeting and for more info, see here.
