Second Annual Lutzie 43 Road Race Comes to Lassiter High School
The road race takes place on August 6 at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia and is held in memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen.

The Lutzie 43 Foundation is proud to announce the second annual Cobb County Kia Lutzie 43 Road Race, powered by the East Cobb County chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will be held Aug. 6. The 5K race honors the memory of Lassiter High School and Auburn University football legend, Philip Lutzenkirchen. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the start/finish line on Lutzie Field at Frank Fillmann Stadium at Lassiter High School.
“We are incredibly thankful for the Lassiter community and their support of our endeavors with the Lutzie 43 Foundation,” said Mike Lutzenkirchen, founder of the Lutzie 43 Foundation and Philip’s father. “As we strive to carry out Philip’s legacy, events like the road race enable us to publicize the mission of the Foundation to make a difference in the lives of others.”

The registration fee for the road race is $43, and all participants will receive a timing chip and Lutzie 43 Road Race t-shirt with their registration. Interested participants may register online or receive more information at roadrace.lutzie43.org. Race day registration will also be available from 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. on the day of the race. Additionally, if participants are unable to run on-site at Lassiter, they may still participate as a virtual runner from any location. Virtual runners register by signing up online and selecting the “virtual runner” checkbox. Participants’ running virtually will receive their race t-shirt prior to race day and can be a part of the event by posting on social media and tagging the Lutzie 43 Foundation. Cobb County Kia is the main sponsor for the second annual event.

Awards will be given in the Overall Open, Masters and Grand Masters Male & Female categories. Medals will be awarded to the top three males and females of the following age groups; 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and up. In addition, this will be a family fun event including a bounce house for kids, and food and drinks for adults.
The Lutzie 43 Foundation was established in loving memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen, and aims to develop the character of young people and their mentors by focusing on leadership, charity, compassion, mentorship, hard work, honesty and faith. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Lutzie 43 Foundation and the East Cobb County chapter of FCA.

The Lutzie 43 Foundation is an Alabama Non-Profit Corporation and 501(c)3 entity which was established in loving memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen. The Lutzie 43 Foundation aims to develop the character of young people and their influencers by focusing on leadership, charity, compassion, mentorship, hard work, honesty and faith through education and real world application. The inspiration for the Lutzie 43 Foundation, Philip Lutzenkirchen, was a remarkable young man that gave of himself to others. However, it was through a series of poor decisions that led to his tragic death. The Lutzie 43 Foundation hopes that through its mission and support programs others will know and understand Philip’s living legacy, and most importantly, learn from his death. All funds contributed to the foundation will be used to establish and support programs consistent with its mission.
