Significant Weather Advisory Issued for Smyrna, Vinings

The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for an area which includes Smyrna and Vinings.

According to the advisory, a line of strong thunderstorms is heading east at 25 mph and could bring with it 40 mph winds and pea-sized hail. Residents in the area are advised to head indoors immediately and to avoid using electric appliances unless in an emergency. The advisory says to expect minor damage to tree limbs and expect to see traffic lights swaying due to high winds.

The advisory is in effect until 3:45 p.m.
