Smryna Community Programs Offer Assistance During Coronavirus

The Smyrna community is offering assistance to any resident in need during the shelter-in-place order.

SMYRNA, GA – The Smyrna community is offering assistance to any resident in need during the shelter-in-place order as officials urge people to stay home in order to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. Assistance ranges from hot meals to prescription picks up to financial help.

Grocery gift cards

Residents who are in need of assistance with affording groceries can receive a gift card through the Support Smyrna program. Visit the program's website and complete the brief application. If approved, you will receive a gift card to Kroger or Publix.

Smryna Hot Meals program

The Smyrna Hot Meals program is expanding, thanks to the help of local restaurants. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the past two weeks, 150 hot meals have been available to those in need for pick up at the Tillman House from 4-5 p.m.

Now, the program is expanding to providing 350 hot meals per day in order to meet the needs of families in Smyrna. Meals can be picked up Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4-5 p.m. at Jonquil Park, Chuck Camp Park and Tillman House.

Police deliver groceries and medicine

The Smyrna Police Department is also offering to deliver groceries and medications to seniors and residents with compromised immune systems who are unable to go to the grocery story and pharmacy. In order to participate in the program, place and pay for an order at Publix and Kroger's South Cobb Drive locations, Walmart on Cobb Parkway, Walgreens or CVS, and then call Sergeant Defense at 404-661-6699 or Officer Elliott at 678-816-8396 with the details of your order. They will pick up the groceries and medication and deliver them to your home.
