A Smyrna man and his girlfriend were arrested in Alpharetta last month after police said they left the man’s child alone in a car for 40 minutes while they finished having dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Aric Keck and Jaqueline Tabb brought Keck’s 6-year-old son inside with them for dinner at the Kona Grill on July 18, but returned him to the car when he got tired. Alone in the car, the youngster called his birth mother, who called 911 to alert authorities of the situation. A 911 operator called the boy around the same time Keck returned to the car, a police report says.

Keck allegedly hung up on the 911 twice, then told the second he had left the boy alone briefly why he went to the restroom. Keck then allegedly called his ex and threatened to kill her for alerting authorities to the boy left alone in the car, according to the report. The report adds that both Tabb and the child heard the threat, and the child’s mother told police that Tabb is afraid of Keck.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that surveillance camera footage shows Keck, Tabb, and Keck’s son leaving the restaurant at 9:32 p.m., with the adults returning shortly thereafter and staying until 10:15 p.m.
