Smyrna Covers Cost Of Coronavirus Testing for City Employees
The city of Smyrna is providing free COVID-19 tests for all city employees this week.
SMYRNA, GA — The City of Smyrna has been providing voluntary COVID-19 testing for all city employees at no cost over a three-day period this week. The city has 489 active full-time, part-time and seasonal/temporary employees.
“I am so proud of our staff for providing excellent service to Smyrna citizens during these tough times. I want to make sure that they know how committed we are to keeping them safe,” said Mayor Derek Norton in a statement. “Providing free COVID tests is another way to make sure they are protected.”
Testing dates have been on Tuesday, Wednesday. Today is the last day this week.

The tests are self-administered with guidance through each test offered by Smyrna Fire Department paramedics with oversight provided by the City of Smyrna Human Resources Department and by prescribing physician, Dr. Lance Walker, providing results.
The process and results are confidential, said city officials. They will be managed through the City of Smyrna Human Resources Department and the prescribing/oversight physician.
