Smyrna Mayor's Education Awards Presented Tonight
Before tonight's city council meeting, Smyrna area schools will have a student, staff member and volunteer recognized based upon excellence and other criteria.

It’s Monday, and that means another Smyrna City Council meeting is set for 7:30 tonight in the City Hall building located at 2800 King Street.
There will be a pair of public hearings on the agenda, both concerning The Crossings at Four Corners development at the corner of South Cobb Drive and Concord Road.

(A) Approval of November 21, 2011 Mayor and Council meeting minutes
(B) Adopt change of fees for Taylor-Brawner House rental and Tolleson Pool rentals; implement first time fee for Wolfe Center room rental; and apply first time cancellation and date change fees; all to be effective January 1, 2012

(C) Approval of Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and City of Smyrna
(D) Approval of Addendum to the Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
(E) Approval to use Council Chambers on December 15, 2011 from 6:30-8:30 pm for the Market Village HOA Meeting in Ward 3
Prior to the meeting, the Mayor’s Education Awards will be presented as area schools will have a student, staff member and volunteer recognized based upon excellence and other criteria.
Students could be honored for outstanding academic performance, while leadership, helping others or rising above circumstance to do their very best were further criteria. Staff awards could be either for faculty or office staff and volunteers may also be couples who take an active involvement in the betterment of the school.

And don't forget that Tuesday is Smyrna's runoff election day for Wards 4, 5 and 7. In Ward 4 Councilman Mike McNabb is facing Corkey Welch from Ward 4; in Ward 5 it's Jason Saliba and Susan Wilkinson; and Ron Fennel and Garry Osborne are facing off in Ward 7.
