Smyrna Police Seek Crying Robber, Masked Men

The woman claimed to know someone who lived at the home and started crying, When the homeowner opened the door, masked men appeared.

SMYRNA, GA — Police in Smyrna are asking for the public's help in capturing three people who forced their way into a home with a gun and tried to rob it.

According to the Smyrna Police Department, at 9:40 p.m. Monday a woman and two men broke into the home, in the 5100 block of Inwood Place in Mableton, and demanded money at gunpoint. The homeowner was able to run away from her home with her two children and call 911 from a neighbor's house, police spokesman Sgt. Louis Defense said.

In a surveillance video, the woman can be heard claiming to know someone who lives at the home and saying she needs money to have an abortion. She starts pretending to cry, which is when the homeowner opens the door. In a second segment of the video, the two masked men can be seen leaving the home.

The woman is described as a light-skinned, black female who was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the word "Reckless" written on the front and the image of a pair of sunglasses beneath the word. She identified herself by the name "Amanda," police said.

She had black hair braided into a ponytail with blonde hair on the bottom.

Both of the men were wearing masks, according to police. The robbers got away in a silver or gray SUV, they said.

The robbery was caught on the homeowner's doorbell camera system. Videos of the crime are attached below.
