Smyrna-Vinings Teachers Receives Grant from Cobb Schools Foundation

18 teachers in the county received $22,000 in grant money to further develop their innovative ideas in the classroom.

Several teachers who serve the Smyrna-Vinings community have been recognized for their creative approaches to education and have been given grants as a result, the Cobb County School District announced Thursday.

Nicholson Elementary School’s Cynthia Pragovich, Norton Park Elementary School’s Angela Mack, Nickajack Elementary School’s Deryl Heflin, and Griffin Middle School’s Richard White received 2014 Teacher IMPACT Grants from the Cobb Schools Foundation. The grants were awarded to 18 teachers who demonstrated innovative techniques and programs in their classrooms and in their schools.

Pragovich received a $1,310 grant for her “Portable Writing Lab” project, while Mack’s grant was for $1,000 and will go towards her “There’s An App For That!” initiative. Heflin received $2,040 for ”Using Digital Microscopes in the K-5 Classroom,” and White earned a $2,500 grant for “Griffin’s Got Talent.”
