Smyrna's Acting Fire Chief Could Earn Permanent Title
Roy Acree has been nominated to serve as the City of Smyrna's newest fire chief.

The man who has served as the acting fire chief for the City of Smyrna twice in the past year may be named to permanently occupy that post as soon as Monday night.
Roy Acree, who was first designated the city’s acting fire chief following the resignation of Jason Lanyon in September of 2013 and who re-assumed the role after Paige Day was terminated for misuse of a city financial transaction card in September of 2014, has been nominated by Councilman Ron Fennel to become the city’s official fire chief.
According to the city’s website, Acree has been a public servant in Smyrna since 1990 and was most recently the Deputy Fire Chief under both Lanyon and Day. Acree is also the city’s deputy emergency management director.
