Smyrna's New Fire Chief: Internal, External Searches "Likely"
The search for the city's permanent fire chief has not yet commenced, city officials said.

Although the City of Smyrna has an acting fire chief in the wake of the resignation of former chief Jason Lanyon, plans to hire a permanent replacement have not been finalized.
Roy Acree, formerly the city's deputy fire chief, has been named acting fire chief pending the hiring of Lanyon's replacement.
Lanyon resigned last week in the midst of an internal investigation into alleged violations of city policy.
Officials with the City of Smyrna have confirmed that the hiring process for the new fire chief has not begun yet, but Community Relations Director Jennifer Bennett told Patch that an internal and external search for candidates was the most likely scenario.
Kay Bolick, Director of Human Resources told Patch that her department has not been given any hiring processes and does not know when the search for the new chief will start.
"Nothing has begun," Bolick told Patch.
