Spring Jonquil Festival This Weekend; New Shows, Demonstrations to Watch for
Animal athletics will be a big part of this season's festivities, along with the traditional arts and crafts and food fare.

The Smyrna Village Green will come to life on April 25 and 26 in celebration of the city’s annual Spring Jonquil Festival, a free event which has graced the city for almost 30 years.

According to the city’s website, the festival begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, following the Jonquil City Jog 5K which kicks off at 8 a.m., and closes for the day at 6 p.m. Sunday’s fun will commence at noon and close at 5 p.m.
During the festival, more than 175 vendors will be on hand selling arts and crafts, delicious food, and spreading awareness of their nonprofit organizations. Friends of the Smyrna Library will host a book sale during the festival.

Celebrated puppeteer Peter Hart will bring his show to the Jonquil Festival, with marionettes which bring joy and entertainment to adults and children alike.
Acoustic guitarist Scott Thompson will provide music at the veteran’s memorial directly next to the row of vendors on the village green.
Activities for the kids include bounce houses, quad bungees, a rock wall, inflatable slides, sand art, and more.
New this year, Robinson’s Racing Pigs and Paddling Porkers Show will delight audience with pig athletics; each of the sweet swine will compete for the trophy of an Oreo through grueling (for a pig) races and swimming contests. The show will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m., and on Sunday at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Another new feature for this season’s Jonquil fest is the Tenasity Dog Agility Demonstrations, which will allow your pooch to test their mettle on the agility course and see if he or she has what it takes to be the top dog. These events will be held throughout the weekend.
