Smyrna’s Sprouts Farmer’s Market opened today - as earlier announced - to balloons, contests, and festivities. Also a full store late into the evening and an overflowing parking lot. Hopefully, parking should get better soon since opening day festivities can draw large crowds. Also, the store seemed to handle the full house pretty efficiently with long lines clearing out quickly. A short nearby power outage from a thunderstorm didn’t deter any shoppers, and backup power kept the lines moving.
We should always expect this Sprouts to be very lively. It is one of the only or the only organic supermarkets (ignoring smaller shops) within a six mile radius that also includes Vinings, parts of Buckhead, and West Cobb. It also includes parts of Sandy Springs and East Cobb, which have competing stores. We may expect to see people who would previously have gone to Lenox and East Cobb Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods or Harry’s coming to Smyrna’s Sprouts instead out of convenience. West Cobb will be getting their own Sprouts in about a year, but for now they can get their fill here in Smyrna. Sandy Springs residents can sample the goods and prices before their own opens as well. In fact, the wide appeal can already be seen by the large number of Fulton county cars in he parking lot - presumably Atlanta residents.
Sprouts is part of Olde Ivy Village at the corner of East-West Connector and South Cobb Drive. It is within walking distance of the Silver Comet Trail, West Village and Ivy Walk and sports a skyline view from certain angles. The shopping center includes an Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint, Mattress Firm, and a nail salon. It is next to the well-known Jim N’ Nicks, which is connected to the new shopping plaza by sidewalks and parking roads. The average household income in the trade area is around $90k, which is one of the highest in Georgia.
