Standoff in Smyrna Ends With Two Dead, Baby Unharmed
The standoff began around midnight and was not resolved until approximately 2 p.m. Sunday.

Smyrna and Cobb County police have resolved a standoff situation inside a Smyrna neighborhood which began early Sunday and ended with two people dead and a baby recovered, WSB-TV reports.
According to the station, the standoff began inside a townhome in the Oakdale Bluff community near the Chattahoochee River at midnight. A man was reported to be carrying a firearm inside the townhome and was allegedly holding a second person hostage. No shots had been fired at the time.
For 14 hours, police and SWAT units were outside the townhome attempting to ascertain the situation, but were never able to make contact with the armed person or the alleged hostage. WSB-TV reports that authorities resorted to sending a robot inside the townhome, which discovered that the two people were dead. The robot also discovered a baby inside the townhome, who was unhurt.

Police entered the home and confirmed the deaths of the two people, and retrieved the baby. The standoff ended at approximately 2 p.m.
