Traffic Shift on Cobb Parkway in Vinings Area Begins Wednesday Evening
Construction work will continue through the weekend; the lane shift will be in effect until spring.

Drivers who regularly take Cobb Parkway into or out of Vinings will need to adjust their commutes once Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) contractors shift traffic lanes to a new alignment near and over the Chattahoochee River bridge.
According to the DOT, one southbound and one northbound lane of Cobb Parkway will be closed between Paces Mill Road and Northgate Drive starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in order to remove the current striping and to replace it with temporary striping. The project should be complete by 5 a.m. Thursday, the DOT says.
Striping of two southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway in the same section will cause lane closures from 7 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. on Friday, the DOT adds.

Crews will install a multiuse path, a guard rail, a sidewalk, and a concrete median while the lanes are shifted. The shifts are expected to continue until early spring, the DOT says.
As always, motorists should use precautions and drive safely in and around the work zone.
