Two Americans With Ebola to Pass Through Cobb

One of the patients will remain in Atlanta for treatment, while another will be transported to another facility.

Two American aid workers who have contracted the deadly Ebola virus while volunteering in Liberia will be transported to hospitals via Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Cobb County, WSB-TV reports.

The two patients, Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol, were working as members of the faith-based service organization Samaritan’s Purse when they were stricken with the disease, which has claimed at least 700 lives during an outbreak which began in February.

Samaritan’s Purse said in a statement that the two patients will return to the United States next week, while 60 other nonessential personnel are being evacuated from the outbreak zone.

One of the patients will be treated in a special isolation facility at Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital. The ward is physically separate from other parts of the hospital campus and only a select few medical personnel will ever make contact with the patient.
