Vinings Downhill 5K is Saturday

Runners from across the region will descend on Vinings this weekend to take part in a fast 5K in the Cumberland Mall area.

The Vinings Downhill 5K begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, with a 1K fun run kicking off an hour earlier. The race will begin at Mt. Wilkinson, proceed around the Cumberland Mall area, and end at the Lovett School, a 280 foot drop from the course’s starting location. The fun run will take place inside Vinings Jubilee.

If you are interested in running, race day registration costs $40.

Trophies will be awarded for first place overall for men and women and the top three finishers in each of the 14 age groups designated for the race. The fastest runner and each woman who places in her age group will win a bouquet of flowers from Costco.

Following the race, there will be a party at Vinings Jubilee. Participants can walk or take a bus to the party.
