Shortly after his sixth birthday, Alex went in for his regular check-up. After noticing that his hemoglobin levels were low, the doctor suggested running additional blood work just to be cautious. Soon after, Alex was unusually cold at pool party, to the point that his lips turned blue. This propelled his parents to get his additional blood work done, and they were soon called back in.
The prognosis was life-altering; Alex had leukemia. He was admitted that day and has sought treatment at Children’s ever since. Fortunately, Alex is now in maintenance and is back at school. Tune in to the Care-a-Thon to learn more about the Mapp family and their journey.
