Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy to Host Third Annual Event for Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation

Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy (www.wbmfamilylaw.com) will again host a gathering in support of the Guardian ad Litem Program of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. Now in its third year, the event will be held at the family law firm’s offices in the Riverwood 100 Building on Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The 2013 event raised $22,450 for the program, nearly tripling the amount raised at the inaugural reception in 2012. In its first two years, the event has now raised approximately $31,000 for the Guardian ad Litem Program, which in 2012 had faced the prospect of discontinuing its services after losing a grant from Fulton County.

“AVLF continues to provide vital and often overlooked services to people in need,” said Jim McGinnis, a partner at Warner Bates and a member of the AVLF Board of Directors. “Our firm is honored to host the Guardian ad Litem fundraising event for the third year in a row.”

The purchase of a $100 ticket at the event may be applied toward a Host Level Ticket for the AVLF’s 23rd Annual Wine Tasting, which will be held November 6, 2014, at the World of Coca-Cola.

AVLF has operated the Guardian ad Litem program in the Fulton County Family Division since 1990. The program provides training for private attorney volunteers to represent Fulton County children from low income households who are the subject of contested custody actions.
