Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy Reception Raises $15,950 For Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation
Donations to Guardian ad Litem Program Approach $50,000 To Date
Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy (www.wbmfamilylaw.com) is proud to announce that its August 21 reception raised $15,950 for the Guardian ad Litem Program of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
Now in its third year, the event has raised close to $50,000 for the program, which in 2012 had faced the prospect of discontinuing its services after losing a grant from Fulton County.
“Because of the gracious support of the Atlanta legal community and our generous event sponsors, the Guardian ad Litem program continues to help underrepresented members of our community,” said Jim McGinnis, a partner of Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy and a member of the AVLF Board of Directors. “It is very rewarding to see friends, peers, colleagues, and competitors come together for this great cause.”

AVLF has operated the Guardian ad Litem program in the Fulton County Family Division since 1990. The program provides training for private attorney volunteers to represent Fulton County children from low-income households who are the subject of contested custody actions.
This year’s reception was sponsored by the forensic accounting firm of IAG Forensics, legal technology support company Paragon, and wealth management firm SignatureFD. Over 100 people attended the event and one hundred percent of the proceeds from their tickets went directly to the Guardian ad Litem program.
