Wellstar Health System Ranks in Top 10 On Working Mother's Best Companies List

For 5th Year, WellStar Recognized in Top 10 for Leadership in Work/Life Integration Policies

Working Mother magazine named WellStar Health System as one of the Top 10 Companies on its 2014 Working Mother 100 Best Companies list. WellStar was recognized for outstanding leadership in establishing policies, programs and corporate culture that supports working moms, including child care, flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave and advancement of women. This is the fifth year WellStar has been in the Top 10 and the seventh year in the Top 100.

“At WellStar Health System, we have made creating work-life balance a priority and our team members have noticed,” said David Anderson, executive vice president of human resources, organizational learning & chief compliance officer for WellStar Health System. “WellStar has become an employer of choice for working mothers through our numerous initiatives geared toward providing an improved quality of life.”

WellStar created a goal of “right people, right place, right time” to ensure the best outcomes for patients, team members, the community and the organization. To encourage flexibility, every WellStar manager is trained on how to manage flexible work teams and team members, how to consider the business strategy of flexible work and why it is important. WellStar offers a multitude of benefits to all employees including two on-site day cares for children of employees and back-up care assistance for children and family members of employees who need last minute, in-home temporary care. Additionally, concierge service is offered to all WellStar employees to help with such tasks as dry-cleaning pick-up, car maintenance and grocery shopping.

In honor of the 100 Best Companies, Working Mother has declared Tuesday, October 21st as National Flex Day to increase awareness for the importance of workplace flexibility. All companies are invited to participate by encouraging all employees to use flex policies on this day.
