Wet Week Forecast for Smyrna, Vinings

There is at least a 40 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms each day this week, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service is predicting more showers and thunderstorms for the Smyrna-Vinings area throughout the week.

According to the forecast, we’re in for a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3 and 9 p.m. today, with a high temperature somewhere around 82 degrees. Tuesday isn’t looking much better, with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a predicted high of 80 degrees under partly sunny skies.

The forecast predicts the same conditions for Wednesday, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday night. Thursday’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, a high temperature of 80, and a 50 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms.

On Friday, we can look forward to a 40 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms under partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 82 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the duration of this week in north and central Georgia. The outlook reads, in part:

THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE EACH DAY ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL

GEORGIA AS AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM STALLS ACROSS THE

REGION. THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF AFTERNOON AND EVENING SEVERE

STORMS ON MONDAY... AND POSSIBLY AGAIN ON TUESDAY... ACROSS NORTH

AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

According to the NWS weekly weather briefing, forecasters do not see a particularly high risk for severe weather this week, but note that there likely won’t be any dry days either.
