Whitefield Academy Teacher and Students Honored for Commitments to Technology Education for Women

Local teacher and students honored for their commitments to technology education for female students.

Whitefield Academy Upper School math and computer science teacher Kyle Justice was recently named one of 75 Educator Award winners nationwide by the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT), the Georgia Tech College of Computing, and State Farm. Justice was recognized for his commitment to gender equity in computer science and his encouragement of high school women’s interest and participation in technological pursuits.

Mr. Justice will be honored at the Georgia Affiliate Aspirations Award Ceremony on March 3.

Whitefield seniors Melly Lezcano and Katherine Martin, and junior Katie Cella also received honorable mention for Georgia in the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing, which honors high school women who are active and interested in computing and technology and encourages them to pursue their passions in studying technology.
