Whitefield Snaps Skid With Road Win
The Wolfpack and the Lovett Lions rolled to wins Friday night while Campbell stumbled at home.
Behind the strong running of Richard Sherrell and Khalen Pinkett, Whitefield Academy snapped a three-game losing skid with a 27-10 win at Strong Rock Christian this past Friday night.
The victory improved the Wolfpack to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in region action as they return home this coming Friday to face Our Lady of Mercy.
Sherrell ran for 117 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries, while Pinkett added 50 yards and two scores on five carries. Quarterback Max Kemether was 6 of 13 passing for 63 yards with his top two targets being Jay Fields (3 catches for 35 yards) and John Alar (2 for 26 yards).

Thomas East reached the 100-point plateau in his Whitefield career by booting a pair of 33-yard field goals for the Pack, who eclipsed last year’s win total with the victory.
The strong defensive effort was led by Lorenzo Carter with 8½ tackles and 11 assists, and James Schultz with 7 solo stops and 6 assists. Everett Pollard added 5 solos and 2 assists and Ryan Jones added 4½ solos and 5 assists.

It was a tough Senior Night in Smyrna as dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in region play with a 42-7 loss to South Cobb. The Eagles rushed out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back in improving to 6-2 and 3-2.
South Cobb quarterback Stephon Masha threw for 256 yards and five scores in the win. Campbell’s lone score came on a pass from Ricky James to Josh Miller.
For the game, the Spartans were 10 of 26 passing for 121 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. James led all Campbell rushers with 44 yards on the ground while Qadeem Salamm added 35.

At Lovett, the Lions pitched a homecoming shutout with a 32-0 win over South Atlanta. Lovett, 6-2 overall and 3-1 in region action, scored all its points in the second and third quarters and held South Atlanta to just 93 yards of total offense.
Willie Chandler passed for two scores and ran for another on a night when the school dedicated a new artificial turf field in honor of former coach Bill Railey. About 200 people attended the pregame game ceremony to honor Railey, who served as head football coach at Lovett from 1982-2004 and finished with a record of 200-73. Seventeen of his teams won seven or more games in a season and thirteen squads won 10-plus games.
The Lions travel to face nearby rival Westminster this week in a key region showdown. Pre-sale tickets are available in the Wallace Gym Lobby through Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. All tickets are $5 and may be charged to student accounts.
On game night, the Lovett Athletics Department will provide a round-trip shuttle to fans on game day. The service is an effort to counter both parking and egress constraints presented by this large-scale event.
Shuttling begins at 5:30 p.m. and departs from the Upper School Circle/Williams Plaza. Return shuttles begin midway through the third quarter of the game.
Middle and lower school students must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian or they will not be permitted on board.
