Who Are You Voting For Mayor?

Election Day is seven weeks from today, so let us know what you think about the race for Smyrna's mayor.

Despite a relatively thin agenda, the Smyrna City Council meeting lasted 3½ hours on Monday night.

An appeal of denial of an alcohol license to M&R Grocery off Roswell Street took a bit a time and even required the council to go into executive session for a short spell. Ultimately the council voted 6-0 (Councilwoman Teri Anulewicz is in Russia on an exchange program) to deny the appeal.

Committee reports took some time, too, and revealed among many things that building demolition began Monday at Hickory Lake Apartments.

Also, the mayor and council presented an unexpected and lengthy presentation on the Smyrna Commons investment history. Patch will have much more on that and other news items from the meeting coming later on Tuesday.

We’ll also provide a report on the numerous election candidates who took time to speak during the meeting. Smyrna mayoral candidates Alex Backry and Donna Short-Woodham were two of those candidates to speak during the citizen input portion, and Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon had a few things to say about the election, too.
