Body Found Near Snellville Pasture Identified

Police say the Duluth man whose body was discovered was the victim of several gunshot wounds.

SNELLVILLE, GA — A body found near a pasture in Snellville was that of a Duluth man who was shot several times, police said Thursday.

Gwinnett County Police identified the victim as Jabari Pettway, 23, of Duluth.

Police were called at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday to the end of Lenora Road, in the Snellville area. The call came from a worker who was patrolling a pasture in that area.

Gwinnett Police Cpl. Deon Washington said Pettway died due to several gunshot wounds.

Investigators were continuing to work Thursday to determine a motive for the shooting and track down suspects.

The worker told police that when he got to the gate at the end of the pasture, he found a man lying face up in the grass on the shoulder of Lenora Road. The road dead-ends near where the body was discovered.

Police were working to figure out whether Pettway was killed at that spot, or shot somewhere else and placed there afterward.

Police are asking anyone with information about the killing to contact Crime Stoppers or Gwinnett County Police.
