The "unity gathering" is a response to recent police shootings and other violence.

SNELLVILLE, GA -- In the wake of the Dallas police shootings and officer-involved shootings of young black men in places like Minnesota and Baton Rouge, the city of Snellville is calling for unity.
The city is hosting what's being billed as "a night of healing" at 7 p.m. Thursday on the Towne Green at city hall.
"This is in direct response to the tragedies of the past week," said city Councilman Bobby Howard, who organized the event. "My heart hurts for our entire country. So, let's begin in our own home town."
