Viewfinder: Sassy Stitchers from Snellville

The Sassy Stitchers is a group of quilters from Snellville-- and they want you to know that quilting is not a lost art.

The Sassy Stitchers is a group of women who meet every Wednesday at the to quilt and to connect.

"We learn so much from each other," said Brenda Smiley, the group's unofficial leader.

The Sassy Stitchers started three years ago with six members. Now the group is 25 members strong.

The women meet to socialize and work on their own quilting projects (SOYO, or Sew On Your Own), but they also collaborate on charity quilts.

As part of the Gwinnett Quilters Guild, The Sassy Stitchers participate in Just For You quilts. These quilts are donated to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta, and children in the trauma center or those who are long-term or seriously ill are given a special, handmade quilt from these women.
