A Cheeky Restaurant in Suwanee

Wooden menus, taps in the tables and a kitchen that is open to the seating area are just a few of the things that set Cheeky Taqueria apart from other restaurants.

Walking into Cheeky, there are several things you will immediately notice. The Dos Equis promo signs and the frozen margarita machines are sure to catch your eyes. To the right of the restaurant is a bar area and several high top tables with beer taps built into the tables. As some of the wait staff explained, Cheeky is a P.Y.O.B , or pour your own beer, restaurant.

You would think that all the attention to alcohol would make it a not so kid friendly restaurant. You would be wrong. Kids' menus are available as are high chairs, and wait staff is very attentive to the children. A constant supply of chips and dip is also enjoyed by children of all ages.

The waitress, Katie Parker, was more than helpful as we made our choices for the day. She set our table up with wooden menus that had items on both sides. Parker also helped us make our choices by explaining that the "fritanga is a fried crab cake and there are three to an order." She also said the "alambres come in appetizer form or as a whole meal." She also explained that the "calamari is cut in strips not like typical calamari."

We opted for the fritangas. The pineapple chipotle adds a sweet tang that other crab cakes do not have. The texture of the crab meat is almost smooth, which makes for a fun texture when added to the crispy fried outside.

The calamari is cut into strips instead of round portions that you typically would see. It is then lightly fried with jalapenos and served in a small deep frying basket. It is extremely tender for what sometimes can be a chewy dish.

The main meal of alambres, which are beef skewers, and chicken chimichangas were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Make sure that you do not fill up on the chips, because the portion sizes of the meals are generous.

Cheeky's is located on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at Moore Road. Whether you choose to go with the kids or with adults to enjoy the tap, it is sure to be a hit.
