An Afternoon with Saadia Faruqi

Lecture and book signing by a Muslim Pakistani American Author

Saadia Faruqi, Pakistani American author, speaker and interfaith activist will be in Atlanta, GA for a lecture and book signing on November 21 and 22, 2015.

The lecture, titled “An Afternoon with Saadia Faruqi” is hosted by Muslims for Progressive Values, Atlanta. The event will be held at the studios of Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasting, 1075 Spring St NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30309 on November 21 at 2 pm EST. Admission is free. Faruqi will be speaking about her experiences as a cultural sensitivity trainer for law enforcement, her interfaith activities, and her writing. She will also read from her new book Brick Walls: Tales of Hope & Courage from Pakistan and sign copies for sale.

Saadia Faruqi is a Pakistani American based in Houston, TX who writes about the global contemporary Muslim experience and about interfaith dialogue. She has trained law enforcement on cultural sensitivity issues and offers community college classes on a variety of topics related to Islam and Muslims. She is editor-in-chief of Blue Minaret, an online magazine for Muslim art, poetry and prose. Her short stories have been published in several American literary magazines. “Brick Walls: Tales of Hope & Courage from Pakistan” is her debut fiction book.

It is a heartwarming collection of short stories filled with larger-than-life characters and the seemingly impossible challenges they face. You will be captivated by these fictional depictions of everyday Pakistanis who struggle with poverty, violence, corruption and abuse, yet rise from the ashes stronger and more enduring.
