Afternoon Storms Kept Gwinnett Firefighters Busy
Trees, wires knocked down; lightning caused fire.

Gwinnett Fire crews were busy responding to emergencies as several storms rolled through the county Friday afternoon.
Here’s a storm synopsis from Gwinnett Fire PIO Capt. Tommy Rutledge as of 4 p.m.:
TREE DOWN ON A CAR

Firefighters responded at 3:29 p.m. to a tree down on a car in the 3250 block of River Drive, SW in Lawrenceville. This is in front of Five Forks Middle School. The driver was able to exit the vehicle and was not injured. The vehicle and tree have been removed from the roadway.
TREE DOWN ON A HOUSE
Firefighters responded at 3:35 p.m. to a large oak tree that fell on a house in the 1932 block of Colony Oaks Drive, SW in Snellville. Crews advised no injuries and requested the power company. FD has turned the property back over to the occupant and returned to service.
HOUSE FIRE

Firefighters responded at 3:37 p.m. to a house fire reported as a lightning strike in the 5805 block of Dovnick Drive, SW in Lilburn. Crews found a fire in a second floor bedroom on arrival. The fire is now out. There were no injuries reported.

Firefighters have responded to several reports of wires down.
